On behalf of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Minister of Trade, Mr Samuel Donatien NENGUE was before the press this Tuesday, 06th July 2021. CCODEF Administrator presented the Producers’ Desk at the Yaounde Chamber of Agriculture, 48 hours before its official kick-off at the Mont Febe Hotel.
Cameroon Tribune, CRTV, AfricaNews, Africa24, Mutations, Le Messager, L’Expression, Le Jour, etc., more than 70 journalists and technicians from 26 national and international media organs came to the Chamber of Agriculture on July 6th, 2021 to know more about the organisation and the concrete functioning of the Producers’ Desk.
Decided by the President of the Republic, Head of State, boosted by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, supported by the Ministers of Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development and managed by the Cocoa and Coffee Sub-Sectors Development Fund (CCODEF), the Producers’ Desk was presented as a mechanism for direct financing of local producers.
The Producers’ Desk is an innovation, even a revolution
This is the substance delivered by Mr Samuel Donatien NENGUE during a press briefing all in clarity and pedagogy. “The Producers’ Desk is an innovation, even a revolution in the agricultural world”, he announced before listing the difficulties faced by local cocoa and coffee farmers in acquiring products useful to their performance.
According to the Administrator of CCODEF, the State of Cameroon has mobilized the banking and microfinance sector, information technology and geolocation, and a budget of 6,350,000,000 (six billion three hundred and fifty million) CFA francs to improve the assistance provided to the agricultural world. Making cocoa and coffee producers real economic actors
The budget decided by the State for the year 2021 is intended to evolve to reach 50,000,000,000 (fifty billion) CFA Francs, over the next five years, with the aim of facilitating the acquisition of products and improving the conditions of the farmers of these sub-sectors. “The State would like to make cocoa and coffee producers real economic actors”.
During this press breakfast, the Administrator of CCODEF was surrounded by the President of the Chamber of Agriculture and the Technical Advisor n°2 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER). The press has been invited to the official kick-off of the Producers’ Desk on 08th July 2021 at the Mont Febe Hotel.
