The Producers’ Desk : gratitude of local producers to the Head of State, H.E. Paul BIYA

The national awareness, information and training tour led by the Cocoa and Coffee Sector Development Fund under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, was the opportunity to hear the voice of the « Lords of the earth ». Before expressing the grievances, all systematically addressed their gratitude to Paul BIYA, the Head of State, known as « first producer of Cameroon », for the launch of the Producers’ Desk.

His Majesty Philippe NJOWE, Representative of the farmers of Adamaoua, expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic « first producer of Cameroon » and found in the Producers’ Desk response to the needs of local farmers: « The difficulties faced by farmers and cocoa-coffee producers (…) are expressed in terms of lack of agricultural products and lack of production infrastructure. », he said.

In other regions, producers found in the Producers’ Desk a reason for hope. « We dare to believe that the Producers’ Desk will help boost the yields of producers’ plots and promote processing through the acquisition of adequate inputs and equipment. », said MBOBLE DOB, the Producers Representative of the Eastern Region. The deputy Mayor of the commune of Abong-Mbang, His Majesty Dr. Théophile DAALOUME, found « manna fallen from the sky. ».

As a reminder, the Producers’ Desk has been implemented on high instruction of the President of the Republic. Officially launched in Yaoundé on 08 July 2021 by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Minister of Commerce, in the presence of producers from 10 regions, CCODEF and its partners, this innovative Desk aims to revolutionize the Cocoa and Coffee sectors through digital engineering.

According to Samuel Donatien NENGUE, the Administrator of CCODEF, « the Producers’ Desk is an experimental mechanism whose cocoa and coffee sectors constitute the test sample because of their attractiveness (…). It could extend to all agricultural sectors in Cameroon and thus give substance to the second-generation agriculture as called by the President of the Republic with all his wishes at the Ebolowa Agro-Pastoral Comice. » This means that the Producers’ Desk is followed with interest and hope by other actors of the agricultural world.
