By order of the Administrator of CCODEF, the Head of the Fund’s Technical Studies Department recently conducted a mission to Melong in the Moungo Division and to Douala.
Following the sensitization, information and training campaign of producers and other actors of the Producers’ Desk in Melong, for the account of the Littoral region, launched on 23rd September 2021 by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Gabriel MBAÏROBE, a team of CCODEF headed by the Head of the Technical Studies Department went on a trip to Melong on 25th January 2022 to finalise the development of specific specifications with each of the financial institutions (MFIs and banks) and input suppliers (agro-dealers).

The main objectives of this mission were to enable the first agricultural subsidies to be granted in March 2022 in the Moungo Division, a vast cocoa and coffee production basin, which was rightly chosen as the pilot zone for the implementation of the Producers’ Desk on the one hand, and to have the State’s decentralised services and the representatives of producers’ organisations complete the database of producers and other actors of the Producers’ Desk on the other.
In order to ensure the achievement of these objectives, the working session was organised by sub-groups, according to a participatory approach, which made it possible to harmonise the understanding of the content of each specification, to collect the various amendments and to provide the administrations and producers’ organisations with the tools to update the database of producers and other actors with a view to the announced launch of the Producers’ Desk in March 2022 in the Moungo Division.

At the end of the works, the various stakeholders did not hide their satisfaction and reiterated their commitment to support this mechanism for granting subsidies to cocoa and coffee producers, in order to guarantee its total success. It is in this logic that financial institutions, like BICEC, have taken measures to open bank accounts to all producers in the Moungo Division as of 1st February 2022.

It should be noted that the work of this mission was carried out in the meeting room of the town hall of Melong, before being deployed in Douala and Yaounde for the same exercise with mobile phone and money transfer by electronic means companies.
