The launch ceremony was co-chaired by the Ministers of Trade and Agriculture Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana and Gabriel Mbairobe, respectively, under the theme : « Let’s consume what we produce. » It was Wednesday, March 14, 2023 in place of the Maroua festivities in Diamaré, Far North Region.
Local consumption is essential to revive coffee cultivation. This is what can be remenbered from the two speeches of the members of the Government who co-chaired the launch ceremony of the coffee campaign on Wednesday, March 14 ,2023 in Maroua.
The Ministers of Trade and Agriculture have encouraged actors in the coffee sector to adopt a new paradigm that will allow Cameroonians to consume locally in order to meet the challenges of an increasingly competitive international market. Local consumption will improve the remuneration of the smallest player in the coffee chain in addititon to increasing local production, processing and marketing.
The launch ceremony of this year’s coffee camapaign is set in the unprecendented context of the city of Maroua, a strategic point and capital of cross-border trade. The conquest of large numbers of coffee consumers in this area and its geographical position in the sub-region explain the choice of Maroua, which is not for the moment a coffee production basin.
The CCODEF very present at this ceremony was represented by a large delegation led by the chairman of the Management Committee, its members and the representative of the Administrator.
