Support teams for the effective implementation of the Producer’s Desk led by the CCODEF Administrator went to Mbangassina, Mbam and Kim department Centre Region to raise awareness among the actors involved in the new agricultural financing mechanism. It was on the 07 March 2023.
The preparation of the extension phase of the Producer’s Desk has been in full with the Cocoa and Coffee production basins since the beginning of 2023. After the effective start-up of the Producer Desk in the Moungo pilot area on the 24 June 2022, the other Departments have recently been aware of the activities related to this mechanism. Thus, the delegations of CCODEF, some operational units of MINADER and PAD Cacao, led by the Administrator of CCODEF went to Nyong Ekellé, Ocean and Mbam-et-kim as part of the preparation for the launch of the Producer’s Desk.
The Administrator’s presentation on the Producer’s Desk and exchanges with potential stakeholders in this process were the major points of the descent of the 7 March 2023 to Mbangassina in Mbam et Kim.
After a question- answer game the populations identified the issues and the modus of the direct financing mechanism for agricultural inputs and equipment that constitutes the Producer’s Desk.
The ceremony was enhanced by the presence of mass producers local administrative and traditional authorities. They expressed their gratitude and thanks the Head of State His Excellency Paul Biya for authorising the creation of the Producer’s Desk by Law 2004/025 of December 30, 2004. They also welcomed the involvement of the sectoral Ministers (MINADER and MINCOMMERCE) and the CCODEF to translate into practice the High Directives of the Head of State.
It should be recalled that the new funding mechanism was officially launched on July 08 ,2021 and formally started on June 24 ,2022 in Melong, Moungo Department, chosen as the area for the pilot phase. Since then, it has been implemented in Moungo as production basins of Cameroon. To date (31 december 2022), there are 10023 producers, 16 agro-dealers, 14 banks registered in the Moungo and the enrolment continues.
